How To Select
Nanny For Your Child:
A Live-In caregiver
lives in the child's
home and is generally
expected to work
a five-day week.
Duties usually include
care of the child
plus other tasks
related to the child's
care such as organizing
play activities
or trips, meal planning
and preparation,
and doing the child's
laundry.
A Live-Out caregiver
comes to the child's
home on a daily
basis and has their
own living arrangements.
A Part-Time and
Full-Time caregiver
can work either
full-time or part-time.
Full-times means
working more than
24 hours per week
and part-time means
working fewer hours
per week.
Services
for Employers
The Live in Caregiver
program was designed
to offset the labor
market shortage
of available local
full time nannies
and caregivers in
Canada. This enables
employers who have
exhausted efforts
locally with in
Canada, to locate
and sponsor a qualified
foreign worker approved
by the Federal government
of Canada for the
position.
Employers must
demonstrate their
recruiting efforts
locally and demonstrating
the need to hire
a live-in Caregiver
rather than a Canadian
or permanent that
lives out.
Employers are also
required to sign
employment contracts
with their prospective
caregivers, who
will be asked to
submit a copy of
this contract to
the appropriate
visa office when
they apply for their
work permits.
If the offer of
employment is approved,
then the information
will be sent to
the Canadian Embassy
Visa Office abroad
in his/her country
to apply for a work
permit. Foreign
Live-in Caregivers
must meet certain
Citizenship and
Immigration Canada
criteria before
being admitted to
Canada. These criteria
reflect the education,
language and skill
level necessary
for the foreign
worker's successful
integration into
the Canadian labor
market. Reliable
Nanny Caregivers
applicants have
been pre-screened
and assessed as
qualified, based
on the government
guidelines, prior
to your viewing
their application.
Citizenship and
Immigration Canada
will issue a work
permit once your
potential employee
is considered to
be eligible under
the Live-in caregiver
Program and meets
all other requirements.
This may take several
months, so plan
ahead. Your caregiver
cannot work she
is employed, and
can only work for
the family that
sponsors her.
A live-in caregiver
is protected by
provincial and territorial
employment standards
legislation. Live-in
employees are entitled
to two days off
each week, statutory
holidays, extras
pay for overtime
work and a salary
that is predetermined
in each province.
An employer must
provide acceptable
working conditions,
reasonable duties,
requirements and
fair market wages.
The Live-in Caregiver
must be hired to
work in one private
home for the family.
Since it is a requirement
of the program that
the caregiver live
in the employer's
home, the employer
must provide the
live-in caregiver
with the p[private
furnished accommodation
in the home that
ensures privacy,
such a private room
with a lock on the
door. The employer
should provide the
caregiver with a
key to the house
to ensure freedom
of access. The home
is also the employee's
home as well as
his or her place
of work. The caregiver
pays rent for the
room in the home
and is entitled
to privacy. An employer
should not enter
the caregiver's
room without his
or her permission.
The employer should
also respect the
caregiver's cultural
or religious practices.

Child Care
Reliable Nanny
Employment Agency
we believe choosing
the right care for
your children is
one of the most
important decisions
you will ever make.
We are a nanny placement
agency that specializes
in customer service.
We spend the time
listening closely
to exactly what
the employer and
the candidates are
looking for. This
scrutiny enables
us to match clients
and applicants successfully.
As working mothers
ourselves we understand
your children are
your most precious
gifts. We take our
role in helping
you find the best
possible person
to look after them
very seriously.
All our candidates
are interviewed
in person and pre-screened
by us. When interviewing
a potential candidate,
we apply the ultimate
test: would we feel
comfortable leaving
our own children
with this person?
Only if the answer
is a confident "yes"
do we accept that
candidate's application
at our agency.
We realize that
our clients are
very busy people.
We do not waste
your time or ours
sending you countless
candidates to interview.
We carefully choose
only the applicants
who best suit your
needs.
Elder Care
Reliable Nanny
Employment Agency
we also help families
find suitable caregivers
for the elderly
and disabled. Hiring
live-in caregivers
is an excellent
alternative to institutionalized
care. More and more
people are choosing
to be independent
in their own homes
as long as possible.
Live-in caregivers
can provide help
to recovering, disabled,
chronically or terminally
ill adults who would
ordinarily be cared
for in a nursing
home or hospital.
Families are recognizing
the benefits of
keeping their loved
one at home.
When Reliable Nanny
Employment Agency
sends applicants
for interviews it
is important for
us to find out as
much information
as possible about
the person requiring
care. What special
needs does the person
have? What will
the duties of the
caregiver be?
Is it strictly
a care giving job
and does the person
also require light
housekeeping and
meal preparation?
Does the caregiver
require a nursing
or Health Care Aid
background? Will
medication need
to be administered?
Is a driver's license
required? The more
information we have
the better we can
try to match up
a suitable caregiver.
